do not chew or bite at all in the surgical area,
for the first 7 days try to stay away from any food | beverage that is hot | spicy | crusty | citrusy | you can have coffee if you let it cool a little
be very diligent at keeping the rest of your mouth as clean as possible
the clot has to settle, thus for the first day, gently rinse only once or twice with salt water | 1 tsp per cup | but subsequently 6 to 8 times per day for one week
the gum shape is permanently changed after the surgery and food may tend to get caught in the area afterwards | while it is a nuisance it is a great incentive to keep the area clean and prevent problems from recurring
take all your medications as prescribed
